The Scary Horse

In a place called Eldermoor, where there were big trees and tall mountains, there was a story about a special horse. This horse was called the Scary Horse. It was not like other horses; it was very special and everyone in Eldermoor knew about it.

The Scary Horse had shiny black fur and red eyes that glowed. It was said to come out only when the moon was big and bright. It would run fast by the trees. People in Eldermoor said that when you see the Scary Horse, something fun will happen. They remembered times when they saw the horse and then exciting things happened, like an old house falling down or a big tree going away.

Elara, a brave little girl in second grade, really liked the story of the Scary Horse. She wanted to see it one day.

On a cool night in fall, Elara saw the Scary Horse near the trees. It was big and pretty, but a little bit scary. Elara was a bit scared, but she still wanted to look at it. When she got closer, she saw that the horse’s eyes were not scary. They were nice. Elara then knew the Scary Horse was not scary. It was a sign that something fun and new was going to happen in Eldermoor.

Elara felt brave as she watched the horse go back into the trees. After that night, she thought differently. She learned that things that look scary can be nice, and that changes are part of life and can be fun.

In Eldermoor, the Scary Horse story was still a favorite. But for Elara, it was more than just a story. It was about being brave and learning that new things can be exciting.
